The Garland Emergency Corps was formed in 1955 to assist citizens of Garland and Dallas County with water or wind damage, swift water rescue, and traffic control to crime scene preservation. The group is always on call for flooding, parades, city functions, traffic control, and search and rescue of victims or lost persons.

Historically our presence has been known throughout the police department to assist during search, rescue, recovery efforts, and during special events such as parades and the Fourth of July. In addition we have provided certified first aid at local events, self-deployed members during flooding to check for needed road closures, provided traffic control in addition to or in place of police officers during extended calls for service, and provided equipment such as power generators when needed.
